From November 9th to 16th, the town of Best lit up in extraordinary ways during GLOW Best 2024. As part of the renowned GLOW light art festival, this year’s edition brought the theme “The Stream” to life, turning the village center into a glowing journey through art, movement, and emotion. Just beyond the borders of Eindhoven, Best offered a luminous escape that blended international talent with local creativity.
Light Art Takes Over the Heart of Best
Each evening from 18:30 to 22:00, the streets of Best transformed into an immersive art experience. From the Town Hall to the Molen, visitors followed a glowing path that told stories through light and sound.
The central theme, The Stream, explored the idea of flow, in water, in people, and in thought. Through breathtaking installations, the festival invited visitors to move, connect, and reflect. The route was carefully curated to lead participants through different emotional and visual experiences.
Highlights from GLOW Best 2024
At the Gemeentehuis, artist Inook presented an interactive light installation that responded to visitors in real time, turning public space into a shared experience. Just a few steps away, the Koetshuistuin became a dreamlike landscape under the creative direction of Michel Suk, inviting viewers to pause and be present in the glow.
The Kerk was the stage for an awe-inspiring piece by Daniel Margraf, whose light and sound composition transformed the historic building into a pulsing beacon. Nearby, at Stationsplein, Hermes Mangialardo captured attention with a playful and modern work full of color and movement.
One of the most touching moments of GLOW Best took place at the Kapel, beautifully illuminated by local artist Hera van den Heuvel. Her piece was both intimate and bold, honoring the spiritual essence of the space while bringing it into the contemporary world of light art.
From there, visitors were guided along the softly glowing Odulphuspad, a serene walk through light that led to the Molen. Here, artist Hugo Vrijdag, in collaboration with children from Best, created a heartfelt and imaginative installation that reminded us all of the power of creativity in community.
A Festival that Connected People Through Light
GLOW Best 2024 was not only a visual feast, but also a celebration of connection, between people, generations, and ideas. The festival brought together international light artists, local talent, families, and art lovers in a shared journey through illuminated stories.
We look back on this edition with pride and gratitude. The village of Best shone bright, and the light art festival left a lasting impression on all who wandered through its glowing paths.
