From November 9 to 16, the city of Eindhoven transformed into a luminous journey of light, art and imagination during GLOW 2024. With the theme “The Stream”, this edition invited visitors to explore the essence of flow — energy in motion, people in connection and the cultural rhythm that shapes our communities.
The Stream: Energy in Motion
Like a river weaving through the city, The Stream flowed across streets, squares and parks. Light artworks guided visitors along an illuminated path, meandering through Eindhoven’s heart and extending into surrounding towns. The theme captured the balance of opposites: highs and lows, rise and fall, pulse and pause. It reflected the energy that flows not only through electricity and water, but also through people and culture.
This second theme in the trilogy The Beat, The Stream, The Light was a natural progression. Where The Beat in 2023 pulsed with rhythm, The Stream in 2024 expanded that energy, creating movement and connection across the region. It set the stage for The Light in 2025, when GLOW will celebrate its twentieth anniversary with a unifying vision of light.
Light Art Across Eindhoven and Beyond
Visitors experienced more than thirty installations created by local, national and international artists, turning the city into a glowing gallery. From analog techniques to cutting-edge innovations, GLOW offered a diverse mix of creativity and technology.
Interactive artworks and video mapping projections invited audiences not just to watch, but to participate. By walking, pausing, or engaging with the works, visitors became part of the story. This made GLOW not just a festival of light art, but a celebration of connection.
The festival also extended its reach beyond Eindhoven. In 2024, the stream of light illuminated Best, Oirschot and Helmond. Each town presented unique installations, giving the region a shared cultural heartbeat and inviting more people to discover the magic of light art.
A Cultural Current That Connects
The power of The Stream was not only visual but also social. Like a crowd flowing naturally through streets or a flock of birds moving together without direction, the festival reminded us of the unseen forces that connect people. GLOW created meeting points, sparked conversations and showed how art can guide us into new shared experiences.
The city of Eindhoven, already known as the capital of light, once again proved why GLOW is one of Europe’s leading light art festivals. Visitors from around the world gathered to explore, reflect and celebrate in a glowing landscape of imagination.
