From December 5th to 7th 2024, the city of Kolding, Denmark transformed into a glowing masterpiece of art, light, and wonder during the Kolding Light Festival 2024. For three enchanting nights, thousands of visitors wandered through illuminated streets, historic landmarks, and interactive installations that lit up the winter darkness — quite literally.
Light, Art, and Culture Come Together in Kolding
Kolding Light Festival has been a beloved tradition since 2013, and the 2024 edition was nothing short of breathtaking. With spectacular projection mapping, interactive light sculptures, and digital installations, the festival showcased the perfect fusion of creative technology and artistic expression.
From the moment the lights turned on, the city came alive with color and energy. Buildings became canvases, alleys turned into immersive experiences, and public spaces glowed with vibrant storytelling through light.
Highlights: Projection Mapping, Architecture, and Shadow Theater
This year’s highlights included awe-inspiring video projections on historic buildings, including the iconic Koldinghus, where visitors could also experience shadow theatre performances and festive programming.
The installations weren’t just beautiful — they were meaningful. Each piece invited visitors to interact, reflect, and view Kolding from a new perspective. From large-scale light shows to subtle poetic details, the festival brought together artists, locals, and tourists in a shared celebration of creativity.
A Festive Touch: Christmas Markets at Koldinghus and Trapholt
The timing of the festival couldn’t have been more perfect. As December set in, Kolding embraced the holiday spirit with charming Christmas markets at Koldinghus and Trapholt. Visitors could sip warm drinks, browse local crafts, and soak in the magical ambiance of lights and festivities.
Whether you came for the light art, the holiday atmosphere, or simply to experience the city in a different way, Kolding Light Festival 2024 offered a memorable escape into wonder.
